Well friends and family, it’s finally here. My debut fiction novel, Dandelion Wine, is at long last available on Amazon.com.While it is based on a true story, a painful secret held by my mother for many years, the story has been fictionalized, and scandalized, and vandalized into my own favorite genre of fiction, a Southern Gothic. So don’t expect sweet tea.
It begins in a sullen, almost melancholy, tone, reflecting the complicated relationship between my mother and her own, setting the stage for a rebellious, yet curiously brilliant nature that anyone who knew my mother could attest. And sometimes, a rebellious spirit and a few bad choices can stir up a raucous among those around you who only mean to protect you. And some folks idea of protecting looks different than the way other folks look after a person.
And this is the gist of Dandelion Wine; when doing good sometimes looks a lot like murder. The book is set in 1942, the world is at war, Shirley’s three brothers, all married and fighting overseas, have left her parents marriage in a state of emotional fatigue and unhappiness, which spills over into Shirley’s desperate attempts to be seen and in her quest of blossoming into a modern woman. The choices she makes, in her attempt to escape the rules of a strict and aloof mother, will set off a chain of events that will change the lives around her forever.
I would sincerely appreciate anyone’s interest in taking home a copy, and for a kindly review, should you enjoy the story.
Thank You

Congratulations on the release of Dandelion Wine—what an extraordinary milestone. The way you’ve woven personal truth into Southern Gothic fiction sounds powerful, brave, and deeply compelling. That line about “when doing good sometimes looks a lot like murder” is haunting and unforgettable. Wishing you every success with the book, and many thoughtful readers who feel the weight and beauty of the story you’ve shared.

Thank you Violet! This one might be a bit more tame than some, it’s based on a true story that belonged to my own mother. I just added a bit of gasoline.
